On behalf of the Ottumwa Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Member Businesses and Organizations, Staff and myself, we welcome you to the Ottumwa Area Chamber Website. This site is intended to provide the Chamber and its members exposure, networking, awareness as well as a tool to meet new business partners and customers. The site also allow visitors to learn about our great community of Ottumwa as the great place it truly is. Ottumwa is a growing community with great businesses, organizations and best quality of all, its people.
As evidenced by the picture slide show on the photo page of this website, we truly have many beautiful sites, historical buildings and breathtaking waterviews everywhere enjoyed by residents and visitors coming to town. We are proud of our new state of the art Bridge View Events Center that has a 30,000SF Exhibition Hall, Incredible Theatre and Meeting rooms. Ottumwa has grown to be the retail hub of Southeast Iowa and Northeast Missouri and draws an estimated 140,000 consumers from a 50 mile radius.

We can look at several major business projects that were recently completed, in progress or planned in our community that are positive signs of local progress here in Ottumwa.
Here are a few:
- New Fareway.
- New KFC.
- New 4 Lane Highway.
- The construction of a new 30 million dollar Job Corps facility is set to begin this spring in Ottumwa. This is a federal project made possible by many local leaders and one of only 3 sites selected nationally. This new facility will add many good paying jobs to the community and an estimated 6 to 7 million annual budget for salaries, maintenance, supplies etc. will boost our local economy.
- Construction of a new Dominoes Pizza is in progress.
- New Pizza Hut by Movie Theatre.
- New Hotel & Restaurant planned on Quincy Avenue.
- Veterans Affairs planning to open a 5000 to 6000SF service facility in Ottumwa in 2009/2010.
- Clemons Inc. of Ottumwa.
- Appliance Direct opening soon in the old REX location
- Ashby's Ice Cream Quincy Place Mall
- Quincy Place Furniture Quincy Place Mall
- Donna's Gift Court Quincy Place Mall
- Anytime Fitness
- New Hotel & Restaurant project planned on Quincy Ave.
We have also had several new businesses open doors over the past few months here in Ottumwa which is a good sign of progress. I also know that our Economic Development Director, Roger Jones, Main Streets Director Cindy Woodbury and Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Kathy Speas are working hard and successfully bringing in new business, revitalization, events and activity to Ottumwa.
HOW CAN WE HELP OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES AND ECONOMY? NOW IS THE TIME TO SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES & KEEP TAX DOLLARS HERE AT HOME!
Now is the time we all need to support our local businesses by shopping local whenever possible. Shopping local directly supports our tax base and puts a much larger part of our spending right back into the local community. SHOP LOCAL!
