Ottumwa host to the 2010 93rd Men's Annual Iowa State USBC - BA Bowling Tournament February 6th through May 30th
An exciting event happening very soon is that Ottumwa is the selected site for the 2010 93rd Annual Men's Iowa State USBC - BA Bowling Tournament. Beginning February 6th and every weekend through May 30th we will be host to over 1095 bowling teams throughout the state that will be competing at our two bowling facilities here in Ottumwa. There will be singles, doubles and team events each weekend. This is very exciting and many of the bowlers will bring friends and family to watch bowling, shop, eat and tour Ottumwa every weekend through the tournament.
What does this event mean to Ottumwa? The anticipated economic impact based on past State tournaments is that the weekend visitors and bowlers are projected to spend over $2,000,000 while in Ottumwa on hotel rooms, food, gas, shopping and other.
I encourage all area businesses to take advantage of this huge opportunity. Businesses should look at ways to attract these visitors while the state tournament is here in Ottumwa. I would also encourage all Ottumwa residents to reach out to all visitors and show them the kindness and hospitality that Ottumwa is known for. We will have bowlers here from all over the state each weekend and if they have a good experience and enjoy Ottumwa chances are they will be back again to visit us soon to shop, eat and enjoy our great community! They will also share their experiences about Ottumwa with others throughout Ottumwa. We need to make sure those experiences are good ones!

Ottumwa also selected as host to the 2011 Women's Annual Iowa State USBC - BA Bowling Tournament next year!
The local Women's Bowling Association through much hard work landed Ottumwa as the site for the 2011 Women's State Bowling Tournament next year. Ottumwa edged out a hard fought battle from Muscatine as site for the 2011 event and planning efforts are already for next year!!
